The Filipino Martial Arts, also known as Kali, Arnis and Eskrima, deal with different areas of weapon and empty hand fighting. “Trapping“, or the so called “Kadena de Mano“, which literally means “chain of the hands,“ is focused on close-quarter fighting techniques. The goal of trapping is to control the arms of the opponent and to hit the target with special follow ups even if there is resistance.
Part 1 shows the basics such as hand combinations and entries into the trapping distance. Basic Clearing Sets 1 to 6 teach continuations after counter techniques have been defended. Several applications with everyday objects and the possible uses in stick fighting show the origin of the techniques. Exercises such as trapping drills improve coordination and hand speed. Transitions to levers, techniques on the ground and applications in self-defense round off the first DVD.
The authors of this DVD are Timm Blaschke and Marcus Ruddies, 6th Dan “Guro” Filipino Fighting Arts, 5th Dan “Guro” Kali Sikaran, 2nd Dan “Madunong” Inayan Eskrima and Instructor JKD - Kali.
