HD-Film Jeet Kune Do - Trapping

Product no.: 080-HD E

Jeet Kune Do is a martial arts system developed by Bruce Lee. The main idea of Jeet Kune Do is to intercept the opponent's attack as soon as possible. Not just the physical attack, but the opponent's entire attack motivation. One of the ways of attacking in Jeet Kune Do is called "trapping". Trapping is a way to immobilize or control an opponents limb. The primary goal of trapping is always to strike, not to focus on the trap itself. By using a reference point, you can learn the basic techniques of trapping and develop various attack and defense strategies.

In this film we dive deep into the world of Jeet Kune Do trapping and show various techniques, exercises and drills. We start by explaining the basics of trapping and the importance of the reference point. We then show the general application of the reference point and its use in attacks and reactions of the opponent. We will show various ways of reacting to the first and second barrier. Pak Sao and Lop Sao are used to show how precise counter techniques can be used to gain control over the opponent. It also explains how leverage techniques and takedowns can be used in a trapping context to bring the opponent to the ground. The next section demonstrates how trapping can be successfully applied at both boxing and kicking distance. The next chapters - energy drills, pad drills and sparring drills, - help to consolidate and automate what has been learned. This instructional film is rounded off with examples of self-defense applications.

The author is Selim Bugur, head coach of the Berlin Martial Arts Group e.V., instructor for Jeet Kune Do and instructor for Filipino Fighting Arts and BJJ Blackbelt.
