Products description

The Filipino martial arts, also known as Kali, Arnis and Eskrima, deal with the most diverse areas of armed and unarmed combat. In the Filipino Weapons series, the wide variety of Filipino weapons, their handling, different forms of practice and their implementation in self-defense are shown.

Part 1 of our multipart series shows the art of fighting with the Kerambit. The Kerambit is a sickle knife of South-East Asia. Typical for this knife is the curved edge and the ring at the end of the grip. In the intro we talk about some theoretical aspects of the Kerambit and follow up with the practical use of it. Starting with basic techniques (handling, stabs, slashes and combinations) we move to exercises with a partner (inside-, split-, outside entry and follow ups), drills,  applications and their transfer into self-defense scenarios.

Running time: 84 minutes      DVD/PAL/Stereo/16:9/      Languages: German & English      ISBN 978-3-941491-33-5

Part 2 of the multi-part series deals with the tomahawk. Originally, the tomahawk was used as a throwing club. However, its true potential is only revealed in close combat. The handle allows the tomahawk to be used as a striking weapon. The sharpened blade offers similar possibilities to a knife and turns it into a cutting weapon. At the beginning of this Film the focus will be on the long-end grip. You will learn cutting and thrusting techniques to correctly handle the tomahawk and some additional drills to get a better sense of this weapon and also how to use it in the distance. Afterwards you will see different applications. The following part deals with the short-end grip. Again we will start with cutting and thrusting techniques followed by different drills and applications. The last part of this film will show the switch from the short-end grip to long-end grip and vice versa. After different cutting and thrusting combinations as well as applications by switching the grip, you will also learn two trapping drills.

Part 3 of our multipart series shows the art of fighting with the sarong or malong.  The sarong is a traditional garment in many parts of Southeast Asia and comes in different colors and designs. It is worn mostly by men and still used today.
At the beginning the focus will be on the carrying positions of the sarong and the transitions to the different positions.
The following part will demonstrate techniques and applications in the sash position. First we will show different ways to catch and fix the attacking arm with the sarong. After that you will see counterattacks to the throat followed by techniques to fix the arm and the throat at the same time to take out the attacker.
After the sash position we move on to the double hand position. Here you will see explosive sarong techniques and different ways to catch the hand, the throat or both at the same time.
To train the techniques and applications more intense we created some exercises and drills which we also show in this film.At the end we will demonstrate a few techniques on how to counter the sarong and how to transfer the sarong techniques to everyday objects.
